The Real Thing

“I need someone that I can be sure of
catch me
If I should fall
Someone who’ll be there when I call
Then I’ll know that it’s the real thing….
….Someone to love me over and over”

November 27, my closest cousin got married. Ate Les is my cousin, my sister and my best friend, all rolled into one. Ate Les was one of those people who has believed in me when I was still young. She was part of my support team whenever I join contests and stuff.

I remember when I was 12, we’d talk about her love life. She would tell me kilig stories, love stories in fact. Love back then was all about happiness. And as i grew up, our discussion about love deepens. Our talks about love, from then on, involved pain and tears. I knew her boyfriends, not all of course, just those serious ones. I know a lot about Ate Les, and I’m really lucky she trusts me. And true enough, my Ate Les has gone through a lot in life and love.

And last sunday, I could never be happier that she’s finally getting married! There was this extraordinary glow in her face as she walked down the aisle. The vibe was very magical and unexplainable. You know I used to hate those movie cliches where the relatives would cry during weddings. But what the heck! That was true! The cliche was at its truest and rawest form last sunday morning. My lolo and lola cried, my tita cried, Ate Les’ brother, Kuya Vince did cry as well (despite his machismo shiz), and of course I did cry too.

And of course the magical kiss! That morning, I felt like I was floating on air, everything seemed fairy tale-ish! Love it!

And Ate Les is just so beautiful that morning!

And I did an AVP for them (as usual) and I just love how inspired I was as I finish it.

Here’s the closing lines I wrote for their AVP:

“In sharing stories of how two people have found their perfect match, we must always begin with the present and we must end where it has all started…Until the start has become the past and the present is the beginning…
The beginning of a new life…”
